Oby Ekwesili - I lost 6 international corporate Board appointments because they tagged me “Enemy of the State”

Oby-Ezekwesili

Former World Bank Vice President (Africa) and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) advocacy group, Oby Ezekwesili, has revealed how she lost six international corporate board appointments as a result of her perceived antagonism towards the immediate past Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Mrs. Ezekwesili’s involvement with the BBOG campaign not only lent credence to the movement and gave it a louder voice in the local and international scene, it unsettled the then Jonathan administration, which had attempted to downplay the gravity of the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls by Boko Haram insurgents over a year ago.

The former Solid Minerals and later Education Minister during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, along with other women, men and youths, gave a physical presence to the BBOG, which first started as a social media campaign.

Revealing some of the behind-the-scene power plays that worked against her as the arrowhead of the BBOG campaign, Mrs. Ezekwesili alleged that she was labelled an “enemy of the state”.

She made these revelations in a series of tweets on Friday.
