PDP to Buhari - Invesigate your cabinet

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate some of his ministers who were accused of corruption before their appointment.

Daily Trust reports that this call was made by Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in a communiqué issued after the body of PDP national vice chairmen meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, December 29.

The PDP national vice chairman for the south south said the party was fully in support of the war against corruption but emphasized that no one should be spared in spite of party affiliation.

The PDP dissociated itself from any corrupt practice while in power and vowed that any of its members convicted by the current administration would face disciplinary action within the party.

The party said Nigerians would soon realize in the near future that it is the only party committed to the unity of the country and frowned at attempts to tag the party as corrupt. It encouraged the president to look inward as some of his ministers were accused of corrupt practices before they were appointed.

Part of the communiqué read:
“The body notes with great concern the various allegations and charges against some PDP members that served in Government, even as these allegations and charges are yet to be proven, we call on the President to also investigate some of his serving Ministers and associates that even more grievous allegations have been levied against. The PDP as a Party dissociates itself from any of its members so indicted.
“We make bold to say that those who are corrupt have left the party and those who left are indisputably mercenaries and Soldiers of Fortune. In spite of having lost the Presidential elections the PDP remains the largest Party in Nigeria and Africa and we intend to keep it so.
“The vast majority of PDP members at the Grassroots are innocent and not corrupt and accordingly we frown at and reject the notion and tagging of the PDP as a corrupt party.”
