In response to his criticising Buhari, some Nigerians attacked Ben Bruce for selling popcorn at N800 at his Silverbird cinemas, they called him a hypocrite.
Bruce had tweeted about Buhari’s frequent foreign trips and the cost implication on Nigerians.
He tweeted:

The money it costs for one Presidential trip can pay salaries of over 1000 workers. Except absolutely necessary, such trips ought to reduce.
Someone says I’m a hypocrite because Silverbird sells pop corn at ₦800. I’m glad to be a hypocrite who pays 1000 people above minimum wage.— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) November 30, 2015
Today @BBC reports our stocks fell to 3 year low, @AP that 107 of our troops are missing yet what some want to discuss is price of pop corn!— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) November 30, 2015
All those attacking me because I’m speaking my conscience make me laugh. If they know how to attack, then attack Boko Haram and the economy.— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) December 1, 2015
His fans also spoke up for him, read their defense below:
If 25000 rich Nigerians employs 1000people like @benmurraybruce that’s 25million employed. But folks are criticising the price of Pop Corn.— Francis (@IamFranciskay) November 30, 2015
